Ops Updates: Jan. 16, 2026

Hi everyone,

While the sunshine and warm daytime temperatures have been enjoyable, the snow surface is changing quickly. Recent saturation followed by colder nights has transitioned much of the mountain to a firmer, “sugar snow” base. Overnight temperatures dipping below freezing are helping to firm up the snowpack, creating a mix of conditions across the hill.

Groomed runs are compact snow that is skiing well. Off-piste terrain, however, remains frozen, uneven, and challenging. We’ve also lost snow in some sun-exposed areas, while shaded terrain has remained more resilient through this warm, dry period. Due to a very firm and difficult snow surface, 7th Heaven is expected to remain closed through the weekend. Double Diamond and Southern Cross are also expected to remain closed due to exposed trees, rocks, and some bare patches. Mill Valley was open on Thursday, with Jupiter expected to operate Friday and through the weekend.

For night skiing, Kehr’s Chair will be added to the nighttime lineup on Friday, while Tye Mill will remain open for daytime skiing only until we receive additional snow or conditions soften further. Thank you for your patience as we manage through this dry stretch. We’ll continue to assess conditions daily and keep you updated.
