Hello everyone,
Spring-like conditions are in full swing up here at the Pass, and although we are in the final stretch of the season, our snowpack is holding up quite well. The warming trend that passed through last weekend gave way to a low-pressure system that’s providing cooler temps and some snow that’s expected to continue into this weekend. With these favorable conditions combined with our excellent grooming team, we’re extending operations on the backside with the Jupiter chair running daily through Saturday, April 13th. Double Diamond and Southern Cross chair will close as planned this Sunday, April 7th.
Although the 10-day forecast looks promising, spring conditions can change quickly this time of year, so keep an eye out for operational updates in case we need to make any adjustments. And a friendly reminder to always follow markers and signs placed by Patrol for everyone’s safety.
This is also the final weekend to enjoy snowshoeing and cross-country skiing before our Nordic Center closes for the season this Sunday, April 7th. We anticipate Mill Valley to open up to snowmobile access around April 17th after the mountain teams have completed tear down and are fully off the backside.
If you’ve never met our avalanche dog team, then you don’t want to miss this Saturday’s meet-and-greet from 10:30am-12pm. We will have all of our dogs in the base area for introductions and a planned demonstration showcasing their remarkable search abilities and teamwork with their human handlers. And be sure to check the event calendar on our website for closing weekend festivities on April 13th and 14th.
See you on the hill!
Vince
